Artefacta

Artefacta were contemporary works of art or wondrous objects from the past, usually the Ancient past. Many educated Europeans of the Renaissance were keen to revive the culture of Ancient Greece and Rome, which helped to promote a booming market for classical art, sculptures, coins, ruins, and other surviving relics of this lost “Golden Age”–not to mention fakes, forgeries, and imitations.
